Welcome to the Madison County Library! Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all residents of the community by welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds to pursue lifelong learning, to provide them access to technology, and to encourage enjoyment of recreational reading. We strive to provide equal access to information and to offer the materials, programs, and services to meet those needs. Our daily motto is: How can we help YOU?

While we offer many resources and services in addition to books, most people venture in to get a library card and to check out books, audio CDs, or DVDs. A library card is free to any permanent resident or business owner of Madison County. Library cards are issued to out-of-county residents for a fee of $10 per year. Children attending MCISD or who are homeschooled are not required to pay the out-of-county fee. Please bring in two proofs of permanent address such as a driver license, utility bill, cable or internet bill, car insurance card, bank statement, or mortgage statement, and a reference with an address and phone number. Children 17 and under will need to have a parent or guardian apply for them, and a child needs to be in first grade or above to have a card in their own name. Details about loan periods, check-out limits, late charges, and lost or damaged materials are available on our website or in an informational brochure at the library.

Some of the additional resources and services that are offered include computers with Internet access, WiFi, one-on-one computer assistance, FAX service, scanning and emailing, copies, printouts, genealogy and local history research, Interlibrary Loan Service which allows us to borrow items from other libraries, and IRS forms when they become available. ABC Mouse for children and Ancestry Library Edition are available on the library computers. The TexShare Databases allow you to access over 27,000 journals, over 171,000 ebooks, and over 15 million images, videos, and interactive resources such as Chilton Auto Manuals, Legal Forms, Career and Educational Testing and Tutorials, Home Improvement videos and resources, and so much more. TexShare can be accessed in the library or from home. Another online resource we provide to the community is Pronunciator Language Learning. Pronunciator is a fun and free way to learn any of 163 languages with personalized courses, movies, music, and more. A few of our regular services are on hold due to Covid-19 such as Storytime, the public meeting room, and possibly the Summer Reading Program. Check our website: www.madisonlibrarytx.org, for any details or up-to-date information, or call us at 936-348-6118.

The Madison County Library is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closing from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. for lunch. Come see us, we are waiting to help YOU!
