MCISD shines in 2023 STARR despite testing changes

Madisonville Consolidated School District students have performed well on the 2023 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, surpassing the state average in 16 of the 20 tested subjects. Despite the absence of the traditional A-F campus and district rating due to a pending judicial ruling and decisions from the 88th legislature.

Madisonville's Own Devin Merchant Shines at Texas All-State Jazz Band Performance

Devin Merchant delivered a performance at the Texas Music Educators Conference in San Antonio. Selected from over 2,000 applicants across the state, Merchant was one of only four trumpeters to earn a spot in the Texas All-State Jazz Band, showcasing his talent on Saturday, Feb.

Funding requests for 4-H

The Madison County Commissioners Court discussed and took action on items including funding requests, contracts, committee appointments, and resolutions on Tuesday, Feb. 13 The council reviewed a request for funding support for the Madisonville 4-H Camp. In attendance to speak to the commissioners were kids from the 4-H club asking for option 2 in their packet.

The Madison County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual banquet Friday, Feb. 9, at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Center, celebrating the community and honoring Erica Greene and Daniel Bracewell with the “Woman of the Year” and “Man of the Year” awards, respectively.

On, Saturday, Feb. 3, Madisonville High School held their prom at the Brazos Center, in Bryan. The theme was Diamonds Are Forever, and Wes Morris and Olyvia Brooks both seniors at MHS, were voted MHS Prom King & Queen.
