There is no greater heartache for a parent than a tragedy befalling their child. Madisonville couple Angelique and Pedro Guillen are living their own personal nightmare in what has become their home- awayfrom- home at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Houston Medical Center. Sunday, June 2, their now 20-month-old son Isaac sustained a traumatic brain injury in what is believed to be an attempt to climb into, or a fall from, the bed of his father’s pickup truck.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stated on Thursday, June 6, that governmental entities have a legal duty to redact personally identifiable information from voters’ ballots in response to Public Information Act requests to protect voter privacy.

This commissioners court meeting Tuesday, June 11, signified the first meeting for Steve Parrish, now commissioner over Precinct 1, after the formal resignation of Ken Starr. The first discussion on the action item side of the agenda was the abolishment of the Salary Review Committee and the removal of all references to it from the Madison County Personnel Policy, effective immediately.

The Madisonville City Council met Monday, June 10, to recognize the local soccer club FC Mustangs and appointed a new city secretary after a closed session pending the hiring process. The meeting began with a ceremony honoring the FC Mustangs for their state championship win in December.

The Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on Monday, June 10. The board members reviewed some developments within the school district and listened to reports from Superintendent Dr. Keith West and his staff while setting plans in motion for the upcoming term.

On Friday, June 7 members of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce and community members gathered to welcome Hearts & Hands Family Care Center with an official chamber ribbon cutting ceremony.

In Junior Minor A baseball, the 8U boys junior team from Madisonville Little League made it to the playoffs to play in round four on Monday, June 10, against Harvey Blue. After a hard-fought bout, Harvey Blue won 16-4.
