Community residents gather at the Madison County Fairgrounds for the annual Madison County Fair, which celebrates local FFA and 4-H students and adults. 

Monterey Mushrooms held a fundraiser for Kenneth Wilson, an employee, on Wednesday, March 13.

First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Honorary Chair of the Governor’s Volunteer Awards, announced the recipients of the 40th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards. These awards, presented in conjunction with One Star Foundation, honor the exemplary service of individuals, groups, and organizations that have made a significant contribution to Texas communities through service and volunteering in the past year.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail on Sunday, March 10, through Sunday, March 17.

The Madisonville Varsity Lady Mustangs softball team defeated the Bellville Brahmanettes by 6-5 on Tuesday, March 12. Jaley Neal collected three hits in four at-bats, singling in the first, third, and seventh innings.

With an overall score of eight wins and six losses during District play, the Madisonville Mustangs varsity soccer team became third in the district. They beat Crockett 6-0 in last Friday’s bout on their home turf.
