Winter preparedness measures underway

City officials of Madisonville have stated that they are working with Entergy Texas to make sure the city is equipped to respond to any challenges during the winter months. An order for three generators has been placed to support the city’s water well and police department; however, according to City Manager Fabrice Kabona, delays have pushed the arrival of the generators into next year, which means the city is exploring different options.

Retired Texas Teachers set to receive COLA

Retired teachers across Texas are now set to receive the longawaited cost-of-living adjustment after two decades of waiting and several lawsuits that sought to challenge the election results. In the November 2023 election, Texas voters overwhelmingly supported Proposition 9, an amendment that allows funds from the state’s budget surplus to provide the COLA to retired teachers.

MIDWAY VFD PURCHASES LUCAS

To help better serve the community, Midway Volunteer Fire Department purchased a LUCAS Device, an automated compression device that allows you to do consistent and high-quality CPR compressions. High quality CPR compressions are imperative for good survival outcomes. Members of Midway VFD received training on the LUCAS Monday, Dec. 11.
