PAVING THE WAY

Workers for Fused Industries, LLC construct the bridge on Highway 21 in Madisonville Friday. The bridge widening and sidewalk instillation portion of the project, which has been underway for six months, has been completed. There is still remaining work pertaining to signal work and additional high-mast lighting. The final bridge configuration will turn the three-lane bridge into a five-lane bridge with sidewalks, according to TxDOT. CAMPBELL ATKINS

NZ school board moved to Monday

The North Zulch ISD facilities committee discussed further plans to remodel their elementary school and surrounding areas during their third meeting in the school cafeteria Monday. The district has rescheduled their regularly scheduled monthly school board meeting, which will now take place Monday at 5:30 p.m. and feature a comprehensive presentation on the proposed project from the committee.

Crocker, Wallin earn high state honors

North Zulch volleyball players Katelyn Crocker and Cheyanne Wallin earned All-State selections in 1A from the Texas Sports Writers Association (TXSWA) for their performances during the 2020 season. Crocker was named Second Team Libero while Wallin was named a Third Team Outside Hitter, both extremely prestigious selections that put the Lady Bulldog athletes among the best in the state.

CAMPBELL ATKINS The North Zulch men’s basketball team cruised to an 81-36 district victory over Fayetteville at NZHS Friday. Emory Broussard (pictured) logged 40 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring, including six three-pointers. The Bulldogs returned to the court Tuesday to battle Buckholts on the road.
