In the Sept. 20 edition of The Meteor “Madison County Commissioners Approve FY 2024 Budget” we reported commissioners deliberated on and approved the Madison County Appraisal District Budget for FY 2024. The budget was actually disapproved. According to Madison County Judge Clark Osborne, the reason behind the commissioner’s decision was based on cost of living adjustment; the increase for the appraisal district employees was 7%, while the county employees are at 2.5%.

MIDWAY, TX – The Trinity River Squirrel Hunter’s Association held an exciting squirrel dog competition in Midway on Saturday, September 23, showcasing the talents of squirrel-hunting canines from around the region. The event, registered with the National Kennel Club Association, drew a crowd of 24 enthusiastic participants and spectators.

Early voting begins Oct. 23 and the Navasota Examiner will publish the 14 proposed Constitutional amendments over the next seven weeks.

Each February on the last Saturday of the month, Fort Boggy State Park and the Friends of Fort Boggy State Park put on their Annual Kid Fish clinic and tournament. In 2024 it will be on Saturday, February 24 and volunteers are always needed.
