Approximately 2 years ago, North Zulch ISD began the process of monetarily recognizing the school district’s topperforming teachers through TEA’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). The goal of the TIA allotment is to assist Texas schools in rewarding, retaining, and recruiting highly effective teachers, with a particular emphasis on high-needs and rural schools. Participating teachers were evaluated in two areas: Teacher Observation (30%) and Classroom Student Growth (70%). Teachers can then be awarded 1 of 3 levels of distinctions: Recognized (which places them in the top 33% of the teachers across the state), Exemplary (which places them in the top 20% of the teachers across the state), or Master (which places them in the top 5% of the teachers across the state).
