Anthony “Tony” Joseph Leago, Madison County Judge since 2019 and Mayor of the City of Midway from 2014-18, passed away Tuesday in Houston after a battle with leukemia. He was 76.

Nonetheless, a homegrown nonprofit in North Zulch, Texas is undertaking the cause – the Arlene Campbell Humanitarian Foundation. Founder and president Lena Denman is a member of FUMC Madisonville in the Texas Annual Conference.

Foster wins Texas Humane Advocate Award

Madison County Investigator Carly Foster was surprised with the 2022 Texas Humane Advocate Award Friday, June 24. The award was given to Foster for playing a very special part in our most resent Texas legislative session, where the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act was signed into law. The Safe Outdoor Dogs Act went into effect January 18, 2022.
Applications accepted for judge vacancy

Applications are now open for the Republican position on the November ballot to fill the vacancy of Madison County Judge vacated by the passing of the Honorable Tony Leago. Applications can be picked up at the Election Administrator’s office on the first floor of the the Madison County courthouse. Completed applications will need to be returned along with a resume to the Election Administrator’s office with interviews beginning July 23rd, 2022. Applicants will then be notified of interview dates to follow. The position will remain open until the applicant has been chosen and submitted to the Secretary of State for the position on the November ballot. FSA accepting nominations for farmers/ranchers county committees

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now accepting nominations for county committee members. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA) for members. LAAs are elective areas for FSA committees in a single county or multi-county jurisdiction. This may include LAAs that are focused on an urban or suburban area.
