The Old Home Church

Body
Recently I visited our old home church where, due to the visiting and preaching of the pastor, my wife and I became Christians. We lived at the edge of a small town and several pastors visited us. Usually, it ended with that we needed to join their church or group and they told us our children were going to hell because they were not christened or baptized. We believed in God but just did not understand. I don’t remember them telling us that God loved us, and that Jesus died on the cross for us and that our sins could be forgiven, and we could live forever with God in heaven, (Romans 5:8, 1 Peter 3:18, John 3:16). I was 27 and my wife 25 when we accepted Christ as our personal Lord and Savio, (John 1:12). We were baptized together and what a good spiritual environment we grew up in. It was a small country church but a loving church, with no splits, fusses or fights. If there was a disagreement the pastor would say, “Let’s pray about it”. They had a men’s and women’s Sunday school class and if you came regularly, you could grow and learn the Bible. Also, the pastor was a good Bible teacher and if you attended regularly Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday evening you could learn about the New Testament, Old Testament and everything in between.
