ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

Body
Publisher’s note: Last week, in our June 8 edition, we published our graduation special with every graduating senior from Madisonville High School and North Zulch High School. Except one. We left out Christian Wilson, the most handsome one of them all – as his mom states. I take full responsibility for the oversight and have apologized to Christian personally. In the last yearand-a-half since taking over this paper, I have watched this young man blossom. And, to make some amends, I want to share a few of his accomplishments and what his future may hold. – Jonathan Deeley

Never too early to prepare for drought

Body
Since we live in Texas we are always confronted with the possibility of a hot and dry summer. The rainfall we experienced during the winter and spring months was certainly a blessing. Unfortunately, as we approach the summer months, drought has reared its ugly head again. There are many things that we can do to lessen the impact of drought in our area. The most important thing we can all do is pray for rain. Until those prayers are answered, the best option we have is to practice conservation. Currently our District, which encompasses the counties of Freestone, Leon and Madison, is showing to be in “Moderate Drought” according to the Palmer Drought Severity Index. Additionally, the U.S. Drought Monitor shows most of Freestone County in Moderate Drought while Leon and Madison counties are near normal based on the June 2, 2022 reporting data.
