Heart and Hands Family Care Center of Madisonville held a Mother’s Day dinner Friday, May 8 for women the center has supported through pregnancy and afterward. Life Church of Leona sponsored the event.
Midway selects mayor pro tem, sanitation contract

MIDWAY — Rhonda Owens was elected Midway mayor pro tem during the Board of Aldermen meeting May 11, succeeding Marc Nelson. Owens volunteered for the role and was approved without opposition.
National Day of Prayer service held in Madisonville

Pastors from area churches led prayers for the community Thursday, May 7, at the Truman Kimbro Center for the National Day of Prayer. Matt Carey of First Baptist Church served as master of ceremonies.

North Zulch senior on life support after FM 247 crash

Chloe McLain, a 17-year-old senior at North Zulch High School, is on life support in Houston after a single-vehicle crash on FM 247 Tuesday, May 5.
McLain was traveling south in a 2011 Nissan Altima on FM 247 near Harper Lane about 4:11 p.m. when the driver left the roadway to the right and struck a tree from the left, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Justin Ruiz.
