The Varsity Lady Mustangs volleyball team celebrates its area championship after defeating Liberty Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Porter High School. The team won the match 3-2 to advance to the regional semifinals, where they fell to Gateway College Preparatory 3-2 Friday, Nov. 7. The Lady Mustangs finished the season with a 35-10 record.

The Madisonville football team (6-4, 3-2) concluded their district schedule with a decisive, 49-10 victory in Giddings Friday. The Mustangs have qualified for the 4A State Playoffs for the fifth straight year and will compete against the Robinson Rockets of District 12 in the Bi-District round.

The Madisonville Mustangs will travel to Corsicana to take on the Robinson Rockets in the Bi-District round of the 2025 4A State Playoffs Friday at 7:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the Area round to meet either West Orange-Stark or Wharton, who play Thursday in New Caney.

The Bedias Creek Soil and Water Conservation District elected Stephen Petri as president last week, following the recent death of board leader Charlie Price. Charles Nash nominated Petri for the position, unanimously approved by board members.
