The Bedias community had a serious wildfire outbreak last Tuesday, July 19. At least one home was lost along with much of the possessions for a Bedias family. We must be very aware of the present fire danger and diligently watch out for our neighbors. As a side note, one of the responding volunteer fire departments had to stop on the way to suppress a carelessly started grass fire before even getting to the Bedias fire.
The North Zulch Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) would like to thank the NZISD and the Madison County community for helping them raise money needed to send their team to the National FCCLA Leadership Conference, held June 28 to July 4 in San Diego, California. The students represented Texas FCCLA in STAR (Student Taking Action for Recognition) Events and to receive a Scholarship.
Madisonville FFA was represented by 34 students who rotated serving as voting delegates during the 94th Annual Texas FFA Convention, July 11 -15, when over 14,000 FFA members, parents, and supporters traveled to Ft. Worth to participate in the event.

Madison County Food Market hosted its first day of business Saturday, July 9, from 7 to 11 a.m. and at Prosperity Bank parking lot, 208 West Main. The next scheduled sale day is July 16 at the Kimbro Center. Paula Mason and Ashley Butler organized the market.
The Bedias Civic Club is becoming quite active again with 1st Thursday potlucks, a Fourth of July celebration (Monday, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and now, 2nd Tuesday movies at the civic center. Please go to, www.facebook.com/ BediasCivicClubAssoc, for more information.
Free hot dogs and snow cones were available on South State Street in Madisonville Friday, June 24. Donations were accepted at the fundraiser by the children offering the treats and on behalf of “You Are.”

Getting needed medical supplies into war-torn Ukraine might seem like an insurmountable task. Routes for delivery by sea are blocked, and there are customs requirements to consider. On top of the logistical challenges are the surmounting costs, especially with jet fuel prices soaring. Nonetheless, a homegrown nonprofit in North Zulch, Texas is undertaking the cause – the Arlene Campbell Humanitarian Foundation. Founder and president Lena Denman is a member of FUMC Madisonville in the Texas Annual Conference.
