The North Zulch FFA Wool Team competed at Bell County Sat., Feb. 10. The team placed 4th overall. Katie W. placed 4th on the rail and 8th individual overall. Garrett R. placed 9th on the rail. Sunday, Feb. 11 NZFFA competed at San Antonio Rodeo and the team placed 8th overall.

Community and business leaders gathered at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for the annual chamber banquet celebrating the year on Friday, Feb.

The Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting discussed educational matters on Monday, Feb. 12.

On, Saturday, Feb. 3, Madisonville High School held their prom at the Brazos Center, in Bryan. The theme was Diamonds Are Forever, and Wes Morris and Olyvia Brooks both seniors at MHS, were voted MHS Prom King & Queen. 

The Madison County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual banquet Friday, Feb. 9, at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Center, celebrating the community and honoring Erica Greene and Daniel Bracewell with the “Woman of the Year” and “Man of the Year” awards, respectively.

The Madison County Commissioners Court discussed and took action on items including funding requests, contracts, committee appointments, and resolutions on Tuesday, Feb. 13 The council reviewed a request for funding support for the Madisonville 4-H Camp. In attendance to speak to the commissioners were kids from the 4-H club asking for option 2 in their packet.

At the City of Madisonville’s council meeting on Monday, Feb. 12, discussions centered around police department staffing, recruitment efforts, and some new ordinances.

The QuickVisit Urgent Care clinic, a healthcare provider in Madisonville, closed its doors, leaving the community to seek alternatives for urgent medical care. The clinic expressed gratitude for the trust and opportunity to serve Madisonville’s residents over the past few years.

Republican voters across the state will spend decidedly more time navigating the March 5 primary ballot than their Democrat counterparts — that is, unless they come prepared. The Republican Party of Texas is asking Republican voters to respond to the 2024 Republican primary Ballot Propositions by answering YES or NO to questions about 13 hot-button issues.
