The Captain John McAdams Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) met on May 18, 2026, to present the 2026 DAR Good Citizen Scholarship to Madisonville High School senior Jaden Simpson. Simpson was selected by the MHS faculty, staff, and his peers for demonstrating exemplary character, patriotism, and leadership.

Children color and pick out books on the first Friday of the Midway summer reading program at City Hall May 29 as parents signed up their kids for the summer. Prairie View A&M extension agent Shannon Dietz and Chandra Adams visited with the children, and Adams brought her dog Dom along for the morning. This Friday, June 5, Dietz returns to lead a dairy science session in which the children will make butter and ice cream.

Madison County’s veterans office has a new face behind the desk. Paul Baker, Robertson County’s Veterans Service Officer since 2021, will split his time between Hearne and Madisonville as the new assistant VSO in Madison County.
