‘ROUND TOWN

Body
Interesting times, isn’t it? We’re living in an era where cars now send us messages, like “your back left tire is low.” Maybe your fuel light flashes showing you need to find a gas station. Some even talk, like Siri or Alexa.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD

Body
LEAD STORY - GOALS BThe trail to the top of Pike’s Peak in Colorado is some 13 miles long, and the peak itself tops out at more than 14,000 feet -- making it a challenging hike for anyone. But for Bob Salem, 53, the journey is nuttily complicated: He’s pushing a peanut up the mountain using his “nose”: customized headgear made of a CPAP mask with a black plastic serving spoon attached to it, NPR reported.

Heatwave affecting agriculture in Texas

Body
The heat wave affecting our communities is also “exacerbating the extreme drought plaguing Texas agriculture,” according to Adam Russell of the Texas A&M AgriLife in a recent press release. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program has had regional specialists from across the state report a “wide range of issues related to triple-digit temperatures and worsening conditions for livestock and crop producers.” In addition to the release, AgriLife also stated “reports of poor forage and growing conditions throughout the state, including failed to stunted plants and lower yield expectations on crops ranging from sorghum, cotton, peanuts and pecans.” In drier areas of our state, livestock producers have been marketing and weaning calves earlier than expected, as well as culling herds deeper than usual, wrote Russell.

My dad’s parting words!

Body
He did not want to leave us, but he was in the military and orders are orders. He put on his uniform and picked up his bags and started out the door. As he walked out, he turned around and his parting words were, “I will either come and get you or you all will come and meet me”. That event reminds me of something In the Bible. God has made over 5000 promises both good and bad. For those that have chosen to ignore or reject Jesus Christ their future after death is already determined. They will never be allowed into the new heaven and earth that God is going to make, and they will spend forever in a place of great suffering and torment. That place is mentioned 167 times in the Bible, and it is called Hades, Gehenna, the pit, the Abyss or the place of everlasting punishment, (2 Thessalonians 1:9, Matthew 5:30, 10:28, 2 Peter 2:4, revelation 20:14). For all those who have asked God to forgive their sins and put their trust in what Jesus Christ did on the cross for them there will be great rewards. It was a year before we saw our father again, we went to see him and yes, he was there waiting for us. Wow what a happy reunion and it will be even greater for those that have accepted Jesus Christ, (John 14:3, 6:39, Matthew 10:32,33, 11:28).
