Chris Taylor, former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will coach the I-45 Combine football camp on Saturday, June 8, at Madisonville High School Stadium. The camp, sponsored by Taylor Sports Performance, will feature coaching from former NFL and college athletes for middle and high school football players.

Bethany Janner has joined the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Madison County as the new 4-H Program Assistant. Janner will work with County Extension Agent Allen to grow and improve the county’s 4-H program.

On Tuesday, May 21, Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is awarding $17 million in grant funding to eligible rural hospitals to improve healthcare services for rural communities.

Local extension agents say the 2024 Farm Bill, also known as the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024, could help farmers and ranchers in Madison County. Allen Homann, a county extension agent from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and Ty Jordan, an extension agent from Prairie View A&M University Extension, believe the bill could positively impact their work and the local agricultural community.
