The Madisonville under-15 girls' soccer team won the 2024 Presidents Cup state championship over the weekend, earning the spot in the Southern Presidents Cup in Plano in June. According to their coach, Jose Nacianceno experienced ups and downs during the weekend's tournament yet came out on top.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is encouraging Texas motorists to heed driver safety tips and prepare for enhanced Memorial Day enforcement efforts, including the annual Click It or Ticket and Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort (CARE) campaigns, starting May 20, through Memorial Day, May 27.
The 20th Texas Silver- Haired Legislature (TSHL) convened at the State Capitol for their 20th Legislative Session, May 5 – 9. Sixty-four delegates from 28 Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) Regions in Texas were in attendance. Speaker Sherry Hubbard gaveled the assembly to order on Monday, May 6, to begin the process of passing resolutions that will be compiled in the TSHL 20th Legislative Report. Connie Clements and David Hackethorn attended as legislators representing the Brazos Valley AAA Region.
The City of Madisonville held a town hall meeting Monday, May 20, at the Truman Kimbro Center to provide information about the city’s current staff, operations, and ongoing and upcoming projects. City Manager Fabrice Kabona discussed ongoing projects, including wastewater system improvements, the Trinity Street bridge replacement, and road repairs.
