On Thanksgiving day, at American Legion Post 84, veterans and first responders were given a Thanksgiving meal. In total, they served 20 people. One of the event organizers Donna Davis expressed gratitude to the Commander, Auxilary and the Salvation Army.

In last week’s edition of The Meteor, the commissioner’s court article briefly mentioned that Veronica Landmann from the Madison County Libary is working on a grant to digitize old newspapers from The Meteor and The Patriot.

Chance Hussey, local to the Madison County area, found himself in legal trouble across multiple counties following a traffic stop escalating into a pursuit. In Montgomery County, Hussey is facing a bond forfeiture related to the theft of property; additionally, three active warrants are now in place in Madison County, with charges of evading arrest/detention, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District officials announced that the district received a rating of “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability rating system. The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of Madisonville CISD’s financial management and reporting system.
