Infrastructure bill paves way for I-14

An amendment to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) introduced by Senators Ted Cruz, R-Tx. and Raphael Warnock, D-Ga. has paved the way for the construction of Interstate 14 from Texas to Georgia. The IIJA legislation signed by President Joe Biden Nov. 15, 2021, provides no project funding but gives the green light to state departments of transportation to commence route studies. Approximately 115 miles in the Central Texas corridor will run through the Brazos Valley but given the magnitude of the project, determining the possible route will take years.

NZ FCCLA travels to Galveston

On Feb. 4, North Zulch FCCLA traveled to Galveston, Texas, to compete in Texas FCCLA’s Region IV competition. Though it was challenging with the chilling weather and distance between Galveston and North Zulch, the FCCLA chapter was able to earn ten different awards and recognitions with the efforts of their advisor, Jane Dill, and various supporting parents. The chapter is very proud to showcase their achievements during National FCCLA week. The awards and recognitions are as follows:

MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE On Thursday, a rollover crash on the 1600 block of State Highway 21 West resulted in the vehicle’s operator fleeing the scene and leaving his injured girlfriend behind. A passerby in a silver Ford pickup provided a ride to the operator.
