Madisonville Intermediate School celebrated their Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Friday by welcoming members of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madisonville Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and the Houston Police Department. The students made signs for the officers, who joined classes for lunch and recess during their time on campus. MADISONVILLE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Madison County’s Emergency Management’s Office announced Monday that the county will replace a bridge on Strawther Road, which will result in limited access for travelers and residents over the next several weeks. With this temporary closure, Strawther Road will not be accessible as a through street during this time. The Emergency Management’s Office stated that they are excited for this project to result in a new bridge.

The Madisonville basketball team returned to the court from a 13-day hiatus last week and have picked up a pair of losses to Wilmer-Hutchins and 5A Lufkin along with a victory over Navasota to conclude their non-district slate. The Mustangs open district against Robinson at MHS Friday.

A number of local soccer teams gathered at MHS over the weekend for the annual Mustang Classic tournament, which featured pool play on Thursday and Friday before Saturday’s bracket play was postponed due to inclement weather.
