Local FFA president Riley Hope Farris won the Senior Youth World Finals title at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth. The 17-year-old Midway native, who lives in Madisonville, ended the year with 214 points aboard her 2012 sorrel mare, Play Purr View, known as “TJ.” Farris is the daughter of Mike Farris and Lindy Wells, and the granddaughter of Lana Wells and the late Jimmy Wells.

On Oct. 10, celebrate Storytime kickoff with a special emergency vehicle petting zoo. The Madison County Library will have a Madisonville fire truck and a Madison County Sheriff patrol unit at the library with lights, sirens, and a crawl-through.
