DPS Heightens Enforcement this Holiday Season

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is committed to keeping Texans safe this holiday season. The Texas Highway Patrol (THP) will conduct its annual Christmas and New Year’s holiday traffic enforcement campaign beginning Dec. 20 and running through the rest of the year. Troopers will be out on the roads looking for people who are speeding, not wearing their seat belts, driving while intoxicated or committing other traffic violations.

DPS Launches Campaign as Vehicle Inspection Changes Near

The Texas Department of Public Safety launched a public awareness campaign about the upcoming end of vehicle safety inspections, a change the Madisonville Meteor first reported on in July when local auto shops discussed its impact on their businesses. DPS released a public safety announcement video, available in both English and Spanish, to remind Texans about the January 1, 2025 elimination of safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles.

The council recognized Jessie Jaenicke as the 2024 Volunteer of the Year, highlighting his extensive service record which includes time as a city council member and involvement in numerous community events such as the Christmas Parade, Fourth of July Parade, and Heritage Parade.
