The Madison County Soccer Club marked the end of another successful season Monday, Nov. 2, with its closing ceremonies at the Madison County Fairgrounds, where young athletes received medals and trophies for their achievements.

Madison County Commissioners Court approved a one-time premium pay Tuesday totaling $159,819.45 from American Rescue Plan Act funds, benefiting approximately 70 county employees. “It is a one-time lump sum payment, not a raise,” County Auditor Susan Pugh said during the regular meeting.

Thanks to gracious donors, the willing hands and servant’s heart of its 17 church partners, the Son-Shine Outreach Center operates a food pantry, resale shop and can provide emergency rental, utility and prescription drug assistance until the appropriate agencies can address the needs long-term. From its humble beginnings in a closet at Madisonville’s First United Methodist Church in 1987, it is now a faith-based, nonprofit occupying 20,000 square feet at 1680 Highway 75 North.

Madison County received more than $28,000 in excess proceeds from tax sale properties during Tuesday’s regular commissioners court meeting, while also advancing plans for a community document shredding service.
