Prevent spread of invasive pests, diseases by not moving firewood

Texas A&M Forest Service urges all Texans, and especially outdoor enthusiasts, to help reduce the spread of oak wilt and invasive insects by taking preventive measures and being knowledgeable when collecting, transporting, sand purchasing firewood. As Texans travel for hunting or camping trips, they may unknowingly be bringing deadly, invasive pests and diseases along with the firewood.

Madisonville FFA Teams win big at Area IX contests

Madisonville FFA Leadership Teams traveled to Nacogdoches on Wednesday, November 16th, to compete in the Area IX Leadership Development Contests hosted at Stephen F. Austin University. Last week, the eight teams who qualified at the District level had a very successful day, with six teams advancing to the State LDE Contest! Sam Houston State University will host the State FFA competition beginning in December.

The Letters to Santa Claus

On the night of Wednesday, December 2, the town of Madisonville will be visited by a special guest, who is bringing a box and setting it up in front of the courthouse on Main Street. Starting on the day of the Christmas Parade on Thursday, December 3, and hosted by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, the box will be ready to receive all of the letters to Santa Claus that the kids of Madison County want to bring to it.

Madisonville Mustangs defeat the undefeated Bellville Brahmas

In a game where the Madisonville Mustangs (8-4) were the underdogs going into the matchup, the team came out on top on Friday, November 18, at Navasota Ratter Football Stadium with three field goals by Alexander Torres winning the game with a score of 9-3 beating the Bellville Brahmas (11-1) to become Area Champions in Class 4A Division II.
