Dozens of school districts close due to COVID-19 outbreaks Several dozen school districts across the state were forced to close last week due to the omicron variant of COVID-19 sending home students, staff and teachers. Most school districts planned to reopen on Tuesday following the MLK holiday.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Madison County Republican Party will hold their regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Annex Building Thursday at 7 p.m. and newly redistricted State Rep. Kyle Kacal will be in attendance. Kacal may be joined by staff members of other prominent local Republican figures. All are welcome to attend.

Texas has not been immune to the COVID-19 surge that has swept the nation with the omicron variant in recent months as case numbers continue to climb. While the variant appears less lethal as more and more citizens adjust to the threat of COVID, many healthcare professionals urge Texans to stay on their toes as the number of infections rise.

AUSTIN — Texas Secretary of State John Scott is encouraging all eligible Texas voters planning to vote in the March 1 Primary Election to make sure they are registered to vote by January 31st. Additionally, Secretary Scott is providing guidance to Texas voters on how to plan to cast their ballots during the Early Voting period that begins February 14th.
