Ever heard of lawn mower races? Well, the sanctioned races are coming to town this Saturday! Mower racing is a country-wide sport and Texas has a sanctioned association. After doing a little research I’m pretty sure winning a lawn mower race is better than taking your girl riding on a John Deere tractor.
Local store owner arrested for sexual abuse of child

The Madisonville Police Department arrested 46-yearold Bryan resident and owner of the El Mercadito Produce store in Madisonville Jose Jaime Rivera Friday on five felony charges, including two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child, one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, one count of Sexual Abuse of a Child Continuous (victim under the age of 14) and one count of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Assault.

Melvin Rogers Glover, local staple and founder of Glover’s Rodeo, passed away Feb. 21 due to complications with the COVID-19 virus.
County, state continue winter storm assessments

The most common lasting damage occurrences in Madison County from the historic winter storm earlier last month included broken tree limbs scattered throughout the county and damaged pipes from freezing.
MCSO Deputy arrested for family violence

Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy David Myers was arrested Sunday in Harris County on the charge of assault of a family member. MCSO released details in an official press release Thursday, stating Myers was arrested in the City of Webster at a hotel.

Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy David Myers was arrested Sunday in Harris County on the charge of assault of a family member. MCSO released details in an official press release Thursday, stating Myers was arrested in thee City of Webster at a hotel.
The 27-year-old was released on bond Monday, which was set at $10,000.
Myers has been suspended without pay by the MCSO. Further action is pending the result of an investigation by the Webster Police Department and an internal investigation by the MCSO, according to Sheriff Bobby Adams.

Weather has been a popular topic of conversation for the last two weeks and was on my mind when I sought a Musings topic. Currently Volume 1 of Madison County history is not available for purchase, but we are working to convert it into a searchable computer document that will later be available for purchase on a USB flash drive, or, for you non-techies, an inexpensive computer plug-in device. I took advantage of what we have so far and searched “weather”. I’m sharing some of what I found.
