Faith Farris is the National High School Rodeo Association World Champion in Girls’ Cutting after winning both go rounds and the average at the Nationals event in Lincoln, Neb., which lasted July 18 through Saturday. Farris and her horse, Big Shoes to Phil, or simply Phil, became the Texas State Champion in the same category to qualify for Nationals back in June. Farris and her family are now in Fort Worth as she competes in the National Cutting Horse Association World Finals Wednesday through Friday. Faith is the daughter of Mitch and Tracy Farris. Judging Team hosts first summer camp

The Madison County 4-H and Youth Development Program’s Livestock Judging team hosted their first summer workshop for Madison, Leon, Walker and Houston Counties’ students last week. The event, which lasted Tuesday through Thursday, was hosted by the Madison County 4-H Extension Office and led by 4-H Program Assistant, Eliza Nuncio.

Madisonville Youth Football and Cheer teamed up with Texas Burger on Main Street in Madisonville for a profit share Monday. 25% of restaurant sales mentioning Madisonville Youth Football and Cheer were given to the organization. Rebstock to shoot with Southeastern Illinois

Zach Rebstock of Madisonville penned his intent to compete with the Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers for the 2021-22 academic year. Rebstock is a Texas Field Archery Association (TFAA) State Indoor Champion (2020 and 2021), TFAA State Field Championships runner up (2019 and 2020), winner of Shoot Your Way Across Texas (SYWAT) (2020 and 2021), champion of the USA Aggie Invite in 2018 and runner-up in 2019, eighth place finisher in the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Outdoor Field Nationals in Yankton, South Dakota, 4H Texas State Team Member, ninth overall finisher in the 4H Outdoor National Championships, and USA Regional Elite Development (RED) Team South Member.

ACADEMIC ALL-STATE

Madisonville’s Sidnie Smith (left) and Grace Williamson(right), who competed in their senior seasons for the Lady Mustangs softball team in 2021, were named to the state’s All-Academic squad for their performances in the classroom last year.
