The Madison County Sheriff’s office recently announced the sentencing of two individuals for two separate crimes, one relating to possession of a controlled substance charge, while the other is for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

Braxton B. and River G., members of North Zulch FFA, completed and showed their ag mechanics projects at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo last weekend. They both received blue ribbons for their work on their individual projects. Braxton showed his root rake in the Tractor Attachment Division and River showed his boat in the Wildlife Equipment Division. River G. also won Reserve Champion in the Wildlife Division.

North Zulch ISD held their North Zulch Career Expo on Friday, Jan. 19, in attendance was many businesses but one of them was the Madison County District Attorney’s Office. Chief DA Investigator Steve Jeter spoke to students about the District Attorney’s Office and Law Enforcement at the event.

The Lady Mustangs (21-5) have kept their position in district play, becoming second behind Jacksonville after losing to them on Friday, Jan. 19. Before that, though, the Lady Mustangs had a strong showcase against the Bullard Panthers on Wednesday, Jan. 17, dominating the scoreboard with a powerful 60-29 win.

Rufus Refuge, a local nonprofit animal rescue organization in Madisonville, has started asking people for help, as the city’s growing problem of animal dumping is leading to a rise in homeless animals.
