Cattle Mutilations Leave Investigators Stumped in Madison County

The unexplained deaths of six cows on properties along Texas OSR discovered with body parts removed using “apparent precision” has Madison County deputies looking for answers. 

In all the cases, “there were no signs of struggle or disturbance in the grass, no blood spill and no noticeable tracks,” according to a Facebook post Wednesday by the Sheriff’s Office. “No predators or birds would scavenge the remains for several weeks after death.” 

The mystery has prompted deputies to share information with other agencies. 

Texas DPS Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash on Texas 90

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers is investigating a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 90 near Florida Lane. 

The crash, which happened on Monday, April 18, at approximately 1:45 a.m., involved a 2007 GMC Canyon traveling northbound.

According to the preliminary crash investigation, the GMC Canyon was traveling at an unsafe speed for the roadway conditions and ultimately struck a group of trees. 

The driver of the GMC, identified as Julio Ocana Lopez, 38, of Crockett, was not secured by a safety belt at the time of the crash.
