MADISONVILLE — For several months, a billboard has loomed over Interstate 45 going into Madisonville, advertising Madisonville Christmas Company’s grand opening for Labor Day weekend. You may have driven by the building itself, an unassuming gray warehouse close to Buc-ee’s, whose appearance remained static for what seemed an eternity by the standards of anyone who counts Christmas as their favorite holiday.

In the Sept. 20 edition of The Meteor “Madison County Commissioners Approve FY 2024 Budget” we reported commissioners deliberated on and approved the Madison County Appraisal District Budget for FY 2024. The budget was actually disapproved. According to Madison County Judge Clark Osborne, the reason behind the commissioner’s decision was based on cost of living adjustment; the increase for the appraisal district employees was 7%, while the county employees are at 2.5%.
