The Midway Summer Reading Program this year has been amazing! I hope that everyone saw the picture of all the kids with their books, the parents and volunteers. I hope that you noticed the purple shirts – these people are awesome! If you missed the first picture that’s okay, because here are more! All of this fun took place on Friday, June 30th and the purple shirts were back! These purple shirts are being worn by the wonderful people from Prairie View A&M University, who have so amazingly stepped up to help our program this summer.

Special to the Meteor AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today appointed Angela Colmenero as the interim Attorney General of Texas, under Article 15, Section 5 of the Texas Constitution, effective 10:00 AM on Friday, July 14. This announcement follows the departure of John Scott, who the Governor appointed as the short-term interim Attorney General of Texas in May.

On June 6, 2023, Karen Lane, the Tax Assessor for Madison County, was honored with the prestigious 2023 Presidents' Award at the 89th Annual TACA (Tax Assessor-Collector Association of Texas) Conference held in Dallas, Texas. Bruce Stidham, President of TACA, presented the award to Lane during the conference, recognizing her exceptional service and dedication to both the organization and President Stidham himself.

The Madisonville City Council gathered at City Hall on Monday, July 10, for its monthly meeting. The meeting agenda consisted of several essential items, including two ceremonial proclamations, a discussion on purchasing a new pumper truck for the Madisonville Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD), and the consideration of a mutual confidentiality agreement with Texas Water Utilities.
