For Christians, there is no Easter without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but there are still many who haven’t heard the Easter story. Saturday, April 19, Miss Rita’s Playschool & Daycare held its 44th annual Easter Parade and Egg Hunt on the square in downtown Madisonville where the story of Jesus’ resurrection and redemption through his sacrifice was shared during traditional Easter festivities and old-fashioned family fun.

A man who pointed a gun at a Grimes County deputy constable during a traffic stop last year received a 15-year prison sentence last week. Nathan Boggs, 32, pled guilty April 14 to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by threat, a second-degree felony.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail on Sunday, April. 13.

Voters began casting ballots on Tuesday, April 22 for the Madisonville City Council election with early voting now open at City Hall. Early voting runs weekdays through Tuesday, April 29, with the exception of weekend days.

The Midway City Council met on Monday, April 21, for a workshop to review budget reports and grant updates. Mayor Randal Dorman briefed council members on the status of several city projects, including a $500,000 grant through the Texas Community Development Block Grant or TXCDBG program.
