Braxton B. and River G., members of North Zulch FFA, completed and showed their ag mechanics projects at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo last weekend. They both received blue ribbons for their work on their individual projects. Braxton showed his root rake in the Tractor Attachment Division and River showed his boat in the Wildlife Equipment Division. River G. also won Reserve Champion in the Wildlife Division.

Businesses, churches and residences of Madison County celebrating the holiday season with decorations. 

Lila Botello (left) playing for Leon and Ansley Wood of Centerville proudly display their tournament trophies won at the Little Dribblers tournament held last weekend in Centerville. Teams competing in the league tournament included Centerville, Iola, North Zulch and Leon. The local league teaches players the fundamentals of basketball and allows players to develop their skills in a safe, fun learning environment. Everyone was a winner.

Shelby Mclain from Midway, Texas, has the Pineywoods Nurse of the Year award from the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Mclain, who graduated from Blinn College with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 2014, stated that she was in a pre-med program before the switch to nursing.

In Madison County, how people take care of their trash is becoming a semi-hot topic and debate since Wednesday, December 14, when the commissioners' court upped the price of the permits for using the Transfer Stations from $60 to $100.

Madisonville FFA had a successful two days at the State Leadership Development Contests on Friday, 12/2, and 12/3/22, hosted at SHSU. The six teams who qualified at the Area level last week put their hard work to the test, competing against schools from across the state.
