Countless locals flocked to the Madison County Fairgrounds Saturday for the City of Madisonville’s First Annual Mudbugs & Music Festival. The event included vendors, live music, a crawfish eating contest and lawnmower races. 2022 Mushroom Fest elects new chairs

A number of individuals were elected to new positions for the 2022 edition of the Texas Mushroom Festival at the organization’s monthly meeting March 8. Those individuals included Lauren Walls (President), Casey Mallett (Vice President), Hilaria Garcia (Secretary), Caitlin Jugert (Treasurer) and Kristy Mills (Sponsorship and Scholarship Chairperson).

LANIER STEVENS MEMORIAL GOSPEL SINGING

The Midway Church of Christ will host the Lanier Stevens Memorial Gospel Singing on Tuesday, April 12, in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Snacks will be served at 6 p.m. and the singing will start shortly thereafter. Dennis Ivey will host the event and anyone who likes to sing, play an instrument or just listen to some good ole’ Gospel and country music is invited to attend.

Mock Trial

Nine third grade classes attended a mock trial at the Madison County Annex building Thursday, where county personnel performed a Wizard of Oz themed trial, featuring Dorothy Gale as the defendant accused of “theft of the ruby red slippers” and “melting the Wicked Witch of the West’s makeup”. NZ FCCLA raises safety awareness

North Zulch Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) held their Shattered Dreams presentations on campus March 9-10 to showcase awareness for potential dangers on the roadways. The activities began March 9 with an extremely realistic accident presentation, which included all of the necessary place of a mother during a personal injury trial and Brazos Valley Injury Prevention Coalition presented stats for Madison and Leon counties.

Madisonville’s own Tye Coleman will help kick off the Madison County Fair and Rodeo this weekend with a musical performance following the rodeo activities Friday night.
