BEDIAS — A registered sex offender previously deported after serving prison time for child sexual assault in Madison County was arrested in Bedias last week after failing to register with local law enforcement, officials said.

Madison County commissioners rejected a proposed rabies control ordinance Tuesday after two members said state law already gives the county the authority it needs. Commissioner Stephen Parrish made the motion to reject the measure, which would have named the Madison County Sheriff’s Office as the local rabies control authority for unincorporated parts of the county and established a schedule of fines and fees.
