NORTH ZULCH — Trustees looked in house and promoted North Zulch Independent School District’s head boys basketball coach to lead athletics and bring stability to a department facing turnout concerns.

NORTH ZULCH - Gulf Coast Blood will hold a blood drive on Thursday, May 7, at North Zulch High School. The drive will run from 10:30 a.m.

The Madisonville High School Fishing team will compete in the Regional Tournament May 1 and 2 on Lake Conroe after qualifying among the top 55 teams in the state. From left, anglers Dustin Beggs, Kaiden Rowley, and Cody Lawrenz sit at 12th place heading into the tournament.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail on Sunday, April 19, through Sunday, April 26. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MIDWAY — A Texas Revolution soldiers camp will rise under the trees at Antioch Church of Christ Saturday, less than a mile from the Trinity River crossing where the Runaway Scrape choked to a halt 190 years ago.

Madisonville FFA will send nine teams to the state Career Development Events contest after advancing from the Area IX meet. The chapter entered 15 teams in the area competition, facing programs that ranged from Class 1A through 6A.

Atmos Energy crews and contractors will perform a natural gas safety survey in Madisonville from April 28 to May 4. Crews will use mobile leak detection units to measure and map methane plumes in the area.
