Madison County voters decided four contested Republican primary races Tuesday, with two incumbents winning reelection, one losing his seat and a new justice of the peace chosen for an open bench.
Thomas Collard defeated incumbent Precinct 2 Commissioner Carl Wiseman with 295 votes to Wiseman’s 226, taking 56.62 percent of ballots cast. The results are unofficial.
County Clerk Adrian Lawson won reelection over challenger Chairety Pellegrin with 962 votes to Pellegrin’s 737, or 56.62 percent.

1,225 cast early ballots in Madison County

Madison County voters turned out 1,225 strong during early voting ahead of Tuesday’s joint primary election.
The courthouse pulled in 1,083 of those over 10 days. North Zulch Volunteer Fire Department, open only the last five days, added 142. Poll workers also processed five provisional ballots at the courthouse.
The last day hit hardest. On Friday, Feb. 27, 226 people voted at the courthouse and another 34 showed up in North Zulch.

‘P’ IS FOR PANCAKE

The littlest readers at the Madison County Library traded their books for aprons and dove into the world of pancakes. They read If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff and Pancakes, Pancakes! by Eric Carle, learned that “P” is for pancake, named the tools and ingredients, and followed the steps to make their own.
