MCSO arrest Austin man with firearm, narcotics

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Madisonville Police Department, arrested James Darran Franks II of Austin while his vehicle was parked on the side of the road on Interstate 45 northbound near the Walker County line after he was discovered to be in possession of a firearm as well as narcotics.

Felony DWI reaps maximum sentence

Edward Dalton Delacerda received the maximum sentence of 10 years confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after multiple driving while intoxicated offenses and a failure to rehabilitate after he was previously arrested and pled guilty to the felony offense for the third time, according to a press release from Madison County District Attorney Brian Risinger’s office last week.

Motorist attempts to flee local law enforcement twice

Local law enforcement officials pursued an individual fleeing from a routine traffic stop for speeding Tuesday morning on Interstate 45 northbound at the 134 mile marker before he pulled over and took off again, according to a Tuesday Facebook post by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Legion Cook-off

American Legion Post 84 in Madisonville held their Second Annual Brushy Creek BBQ Cook-off at their May Street location over the weekend. Proceeds from the event will help the Legion provide local scholarships to the area’s youth as well as fund their annual Thanksgiving and Christmas basket campaigns. Some of the winners (pictured above) include Michael Clopton, Curtis Hines, Michelle Hines, Jessie Taylor, Johnny Moore and Tommy Douga.
