Madisonville CISD has been one of the few school districts in the state of Texas that has seemingly weathered the COVID-19 pandemic and continued to thrive through the constant uncertainty of its consequences. Through the pandemic, MCISD has managed to raise test scores and maintain an ‘A’ rating in academic and financial accountability.

The Madisonville men’s basketball team seized their first Madisonville Invitational Classic title in over 25 years Saturday with a 59-46 victory over Crockett, resulting in an 8-0 start to their season and a no. 25 ranking in the Texas Association of Basketball Coach’s 4A rankings Monday. The Mustangs picked up wins over Tarkington and Shepherd Thursday to qualify for the Gold Bracket as well as Navasota Friday to advance to Saturday's championship. The Annual Madison County Christmas parade, sponsored by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, took place Saturday evening. The parade began at Lake Madison and went around the Square in traditional fashion. (See Page 3 for more Christmas pictures) ALYSSA CLOPTON

On December 2, 2021 the Madison County Retired Teacher Personnel of District VI held their annual Christmas meeting at noon at the Madisonville First Baptist Church. Co-Presidents Lorraine Coleman and Barbara Richter were very pleased with the 55 members and guests in attendance. Also in attendance were Mrs. Beth Ricciardi, District VI President and Dr. James Warner, District VI Legislative Representative. Each guest gave a short talk regarding the accomplishments of the retired teachers and how they continue to work with the legislators to improve the quality of life for the retired teachers.

Madisonville will play host to the annual Madisonville Classic Invitational from Thursday through Saturday. tournament will be played in the old high school gym and competition gym on Thursday and then all games Friday and Saturday will be in the competition gym. Entry bands will be sold that will be good for each day for all games in either gym. These one day bands will cost $5.00 each and must be attached to the wrist at purchase. A tournament pass band will also be sold for $10.00 that will admit you to all games for all three days. This must also be attached to the wrist at purchase. The Madisonville Classic will not accept district passes or employee badges for this tournament. The only pass accepted will be coaches scouting with the 2021-2022 THSCA or TABC Pass.

It’s happening this Thursday evening! Mingle and Jingle, this year’s after hours Christmas Shopping theme, is this Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. It’d an evening of Holiday specials, Christmas music in the air and refreshments to keep you going.

The Annual Madison County Christmas parade, sponsored by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, is set to kick off Saturday and will arrive in the Square around 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “A Salute to Our Heroes”.

Two Madisonville Youth Football League squads took home championships in Groesbeck Saturday with victories in the Super Bowl. Madisonville’s Senior team won their Super Bowl over Franklin by a score of 20-0 Saturday to complete their undefeated season and the Flag team, also undefeated, won theirs 55-39 in their first year in existence. The Bantam team advanced to the Super Bowl but fell short in a 8-0 loss to Groesbeck while the Junior team fell in the second round of the playoffs Nov. 20.
