On Saturday, November 12, MHS senior Avery Barker participated in the Texas Music Educators Association, Region 8, Choir All-Region Clinic and Concert. This was as a result of an audition that he did back in September. The concert was held at Rudder High School in Bryan, Texas. They performed several pieces which included a beautiful and very moving song entitled “We Remember Them” by composer Susan LaBarr. The song honors those who have gone before us. They also sang a fun french piece entitled “Verduron”, “i thank You God for most this amazing day”, and “Soon I Will Be Done.”

In accordance with the City of Madisonville, the NAACP hosted the Tour De Madisonville. The bicycle event last occurred in 2019 and reemerged on Saturday, October 22. The event garnered the attention of 23 bike riders, who came from other counties of Texas to ride in the county limits; also at the event were County Judge Clark Osborne, Mayor Bill Parten, City Manager Fabrice Kabona, and City Council Member Jessie Jaenicke.

It’s been a busy and successful couple of show seasons for some local members of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association. Harper Nash, Courtney Hammit, Channing Allen and Addison Allen have worked hard and marked quite a few wins this year showing their American Quarter Horses.

On Saturday, September 17, Madisonville High School senior Avery Barker traveled to Manor High School to compete in the Texas Music Educators Association All-Region auditions. He received second chair for the Tenor section in the All-Region Choir as well as qualified to advance to the Pre-Area audition on November 5, 2022.
