Local school districts are removing references to Cesar Chavez from classrooms after a directive from state education officials. Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District and North Zulch Independent School District confirmed they will comply with a March 23 order from the Texas Education Agency requiring districts to eliminate or modify lessons and materials connected to Chavez.
County says its hands are tied as battery project starts construction NORTH ZULCH — A lithium- ion battery storage facility is going up near Texas 21 and Madison County officials said there is not much they can do to intervene. County Judge Clark Osborne addressed about 50 residents during an April 2 Neighborhood Watch meeting, outlining the scope of the battery storage facility and the county’s lack of regulatory authority.
