City officials are inviting residents to provide input on Madisonville’s future at a town hall meeting for the ongoing comprehensive plan project. The event will take place Thursday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Madison County Commissioners Court discussed renegotiating a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Madisonville that would shift hundreds of thousands of dollars between the entities during its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 22.

The Madisonville City Council approved a rezoning request, minor plat request, and master fee schedule at its regular meeting on Monday, April 14, at the City Hall. Prior to the council taking up the regular agenda, resident Dave Ward addressed the council during the citizen comments portion of the meeting.

A 19-year-old woman reported missing over the weekend has been located and is safe, according to Madisonville Police Department officials. Kiya Gantz was reported missing to the Madisonville Police Department on Sunday after she was last seen around 1:30 a.m.

Two education bills currently under consideration in the 89th Texas legislative session could bring significant changes to public schools, including Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District. Senate Bill 13, which recently passed in the Senate and has been referred to the House Public Education Committee, would overhaul how schools manage their library materials.

The Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District board met on Monday, April 14, for their regular meeting in the Administration Board Room, where discussions centered on emerging technology challenges, financial updates, and the upcoming summer school schedule.
