The Madisonville football team emerges from their bye week with a fresh slate and a gauntlet of five district matchups ahead of them as they vie for one of the top four slots and a spot in the state playoffs.

The Madisonville volleyball team split a pair of district matchups over the week with a thrilling road win over LaVega Sept. 28 and a home loss to Robinson Friday. The Lady Mustangs began district play with a 2-1 record entering Tuesday’s road matchup in China Spring.

Madison County Sheriff Deputies Nichols and McIntyre quickly apprehended a subject who stole Ms. Judy Marks’ truck from her driveway on the morning of her 76th birthday. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Madisonville Police Department, arrested James Darran Franks II of Austin while his vehicle was parked on the side of the road on Interstate 45 northbound near the Walker County line after he was discovered to be in possession of a firearm as well as narcotics.

Edward Dalton Delacerda received the maximum sentence of 10 years confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after multiple driving while intoxicated offenses and a failure to rehabilitate after he was previously arrested and pled guilty to the felony offense for the third time, according to a press release from Madison County District Attorney Brian Risinger’s office last week.

With assistance from the public, the Madisonville Police Department successfully identified the second individual responsible for aggravated robbery at the game room located at 204 South May Street in August.

Madisonville’s offense struck gold twice in the second quarter of Friday’s 24-14 loss in Livingston with a pair of explosive touchdowns to build an early lead, but struggled to convert on their chances as the game progressed into the second half.
