LaEvelyn Lorraine Staten-Brown was born on August 23, 1948 and went home to glory on August 6, 2021. She grew up going to Catholic schools throughout her young age and was a devoted Catholic all of her life. As an adult, she joined Sweet Zion Missionary Baptist along with her daughter due to her daughter being baptist, even though in her heart she always held her Catholic religion. Sometime during her teenage years her family moved to Bryan, Texas and she graduated from A.E. Kemp High, Class of 1966.

The Madisonville Volunteer Fire Department held their annual garage sale Saturday at their station on Main Street from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The community donated or cosigned a number of items and all proceeds went to benefit the MVFD. Court affirms 40-year sentence in burglary ring

The Tenth Court of Appeals in Waco upheld the convictions and sentences in two separate cases titled State of Texas vs. Charles W. Deforest on July 7, affirming the 40-year sentence of the individual involved in a local theft ring. Madison County District Attorney Brian Risinger first handled the jury trial and appeal in each case, which were investigated by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Doris Jo (Mize) Engelking; 80 of College Station, TX; passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in College Station, TX. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday; August 1, 2021 at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX with the burial following at Midway City Cemetery. Joel Douget and Loyd Harper will officiate. The visitation will be prior to the service beginning at noon on Sunday, also at Day Funeral Home Chapel.

LENDA MYRLINE LEE LORD

It is with great sorrow that the family of Lenda, born April 17, 1941, announce her passing on July 30, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Edward Lee and Louise Kemp Simon. She will be remembered lovingly by her husband of 54 years, Ferney (FI) Lord, her children; Tracei Ramsden (David), Leigh Du-Roy (Edward), and Dana Kadaj (Eric), grand children; Elizabeth, Nicholas, Llewellyn, and Arabella. She also leaves behind her brother James Lee (Cathy) and his wonderful children and grandchildren. Her in-laws; Hugh Lord (Polly), Dorothy Jones (William), her niece, nephews and their children, whom she cherished. She also has numerous extended family. She loved us all fiercely and will be forever missed.
